KPK Clarifies 'Consignment' Involvement in Customs Case; Raffi Ahmad's Legal Team Responds
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has addressed reports regarding the mention of the Special Envoy to the President for the Development of Youth and Arts, Raffi Ahmad, in the investigation of an alleged corruption case involving goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance. The KPK stated that Ahmad’s name surfaced because he allegedly consigned electronic goods to Blueray Cargo.
“It is true, there are facts that Mr RA consigned items,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Taufq Ahmad Husein, at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Monday night (8/6/2026). The KPK noted that these findings have not yet been expanded into further investigation, and the agency stated that Ahmad’s actions do not currently fall under the category of smuggling.
“However, at that time, we had not reached the point of categorising it as smuggling because it only involved about two units, perhaps laptops, due to personal introductions,” Taufik explained. He added that the investigation into Blueray Cargo was not expanded further regarding this matter because there was no evidence to suggest it was part of the broader incident involving Blueray’s customs clearance processes at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise; therefore, no summons were issued.
Raffi Ahmad’s name first appeared in connection with this case during the trial of the defendants from the Blueray Cargo Group, including John Field, on Friday (5/6). KPK prosecutors initially questioned a witness, Sri Pangestuti, a customs service agent, regarding requests to ship laptops and iPhone 17 units from the United States to Indonesia.
Taufik stated that the KPK will study the facts presented in court and does not rule out the possibility of summoning relevant parties for further examination.
In response to his name being linked to the customs import bribery case, Raffi Ahmad has appointed Hotman Paris as his legal counsel. In a post on his personal Instagram account, Hotman stated that he and Ahmad would hold a press conference regarding the controversy this coming Thursday (11/6).
“Raffi Ahmad just called me asking for legal assistance to fight all those who have slandered him, as his name was mentioned in court regarding the Blueray Cargo Import case. We have agreed with Raffi Ahmad to hold a press conference this Thursday at 2:00 PM,” Hotman said.
In this case, KPK prosecutors have indicted three leaders of Blueray Cargo in a bribery case involving goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The defendants are John Field (Leader of Blueray Cargo), Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo (Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo), and Andri (Head of the Documentation Team at Blueray Cargo). Prosecutors allege the three provided 61.3 billion IDR in Singapore Dollars, along with luxury goods and facilities valued at approximately 1.8 billion IDR.
