KPK Claims No Intervention in Bogor Regency Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has claimed that it has not received any interference in its handling of an alleged corruption case in Bogor Regency, West Java.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the case is progressing well and without obstacles.
“There is no (interference). So, the progress of both the inquiry and later the investigation is all progressing positively, especially since last night the leadership decided that this case should be elevated to the investigation stage,” Budi said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday (21/8).
The KPK has conducted a case review or expose following a covert inquiry in the Bogor Regency area.
The KPK decided to use a general investigation warrant (Sprindik). This means that suspects will be identified as the investigation proceeds.
“From the series of inquiry activities carried out last night, a case review was conducted at the leadership level and it was decided that the case should be elevated to the investigation stage,” Budi said.
“However, a general investigation warrant is still being used at this time. This means that no suspects have yet been named in the case,” he continued.
Budi said the inquiry activities carried out in the Bogor Regency area were related to receipts by state officials from deductions of levies collected at the Regional Revenue Agency.
“At this time we have not named any parties as suspects because it is still under a general investigation warrant. Of course, later in the investigation stage, investigators will delve deeper to identify and complete the necessary evidence so that the parties responsible for the alleged corruption will be named,” Budi explained.
Based on information obtained, several agency heads have undergone initial examinations.
