KPK: Cilacap Regent Targeted IDR 750 Million Extortion but Obtained Only IDR 610 Million

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) targeted obtaining IDR 750 million from extorting regional work units, but subsequently obtained only IDR 610 million.

KPK Deputy for Prosecution and Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu explained that Syamsul Auliya initially instructed Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono (SAD) to collect money totalling IDR 750 million from regional agencies within the Cilacap District Government administration in Central Java. The funds were planned to be used by the Cilacap Regent for holiday allowances (THR).

“For external purposes IDR 515 million, and then there is also personal needs. So, they planned to request IDR 750 million,” said Asep at KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March, evening.

Asep explained that Sadmoko Danardono subsequently instructed Assistant I of the Cilacap Regional Secretariat Sumbowo (SUM), Assistant II of the Cilacap Regional Secretariat Ferry Adhi Dharma (FER), and Assistant III of the Cilacap Regional Secretariat Budi Santoso (BUD) to collect the money by extorting 47 regional work units.

“During the period of 9-13 March 2026, 23 regional agencies of Cilacap District have deposited the demand from AUL which was collected through FER totalling IDR 610 million. So, the amount collected in that period was IDR 610 million,” he said.

He stated that the funds would be handed over to Sadmoko Danardono.

Meanwhile, he noted the funds were divided into several gift bags. The KPK subsequently seized the money as evidence.

Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth sting operation of 2026 and the third during Ramadhan. The operation arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, and seized cash in the form of rupiah.

Additionally, the KPK stated the sting operation was related to alleged receipt of bribes for projects within the Cilacap District Government in Central Java.

On 14 March 2026, the KPK designated Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono (SAD) as suspects in an alleged extortion and other receipt case within the Cilacap District Government in Central Java for the 2025-2026 budget year.
