KPK: Cilacap Regent Targeted Extortion Proceeds to be Collected by 13 March
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman set a target for extortion proceeds to be collected by 13 March 2026.
“The funds must be collected before the Eid holiday break, with a deadline of 13 March 2026,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK, at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday evening, 14 March.
Asep explained that Syamsul Auliya set this target considering the timing for distributing the funds, which were intended to serve as holiday bonuses for the forum of regional leaders (forkopimda) within the Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java.
“Because 13 March is already close to the joint holiday, so the distribution must be completed before the joint holiday, of course,” he said.
Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth operation to catch officials red-handed in 2026 and the third during Ramadhan. The operation apprehended Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, and seized cash in rupiah.
The KPK stated that the operation was connected to allegations of receipt of improper benefits related to projects within Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java.
On 14 March 2026, the KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo as suspects in the case of alleged extortion and receipt of other improper benefits within Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java for the 2025-2026 budget year.
