KPK Chief: Testimony Involving Customs Director General 'Cannot Be Ignored'

KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that investigators will scrutinise information emerging from the trial of an alleged import bribery case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. This includes testimony implicating the Ministry of Finance’s Director General of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budhi Utama.

“With the emergence of such information, it is certainly being scrutinised by investigators and the enforcement deputy; it is not simply dismissed,” Setyo said at the LAN RI building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

He noted that the trial process is still ongoing and that developments are typically communicated after the process is complete. “Normally, after the trial, the prosecutor will produce what is called a development report from the prosecution process,” he stated.

Setyo explained that investigators are still examining the information that has surfaced. He guaranteed that information emerging during the trial will not be set aside. “Everything cannot possibly be ignored; everything is being studied until a further decision is made,” he said.

Previously, PT BlueRay Cargo boss John Field, a defendant in the case, admitted to giving a total of Rp 21 billion to Djaka Budhi. The admission was made during a defendant examination hearing at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (12/6). The money was given in several stages using specific codes.

John confirmed the existence of codes for the recipients: BC1 for Djaka Budhi Utama, BC2 for Rizal, the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at DJBC for the period 2024 to January 2026, and BC3 for Sisprian Subiaksono, the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate for Prevention and Investigation at DJBC. John stated these codes were conveyed verbally by Orlando Hamonangan, the Head of the Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Rizal, Sisprian, and Orlando are suspects in the case but have not yet been tried.

The prosecutor stated that the payments to Djaka were made seven times since July 2025, with each envelope containing Rp 3 billion, totalling Rp 21 billion over the seven deliveries.

In this case, KPK prosecutors have charged three defendants from Blueray Cargo’s leadership in a bribery case related to goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The three defendants are John Field as head of Blueray Cargo, Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo as Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo, and Andri as head of the documents team at Blueray Cargo. KPK prosecutors stated the three gave Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars. In addition to money, the three are accused of providing various facilities and luxury goods worth up to Rp 1.8 billion.
