KPK Chairman Warns of Declining Corruption Perceptions Index as Three Senior Officials Inaugurated
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Setyo Budiyanto inaugurated three senior high-ranking officials on Wednesday (18/2/2026) at KPK headquarters in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Setyo personally led the oath-taking and inauguration ceremony, reminding the newly appointed officials of the country’s declining Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
The event began with an oath administered by Setyo and recited by the inaugurated KPK officials, followed by the reading of an integrity pact and the formal inauguration.
Setyo noted that many people favour enforcement action but neglect the importance of prevention. He observed that the public often places blame solely on the KPK whenever the CPI score declines.
“People prefer enforcement, but we must not forget that prevention should also shape our thinking, especially with the CPI dropping from 37 to 34. This means our responsibility in 2026 is even greater — because when it comes to the CPI, the KPK is the only target,” Setyo said.
He urged the newly inaugurated senior officials to bring about change within the KPK whilst adhering to existing regulations and codes of ethics.
“Performance is very much needed — we must move and act to the fullest extent possible. Being merely optimal is not enough. Whatever happens, internally and externally, we must be able to adapt. The institutional ecosystem demands strong leadership,” he said.
The following senior KPK officials were inaugurated:
- Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu
- Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin
- Deputy for Coordination and Supervision Ely Kusumastuti
