KPK Chairman States He Has Not Been Summoned by Oversight Board Regarding Yaqut's House Arrest Status
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, has stated that he has not received a summons for an ethics examination from the KPK Oversight Board (Dewas) regarding the change in status of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas from detention to house arrest.
“If the leadership has not (received the summons), it might be specifically asked to the Dewas,” said Setyo at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Setyo said that his side is also still awaiting the reporting process at the KPK Dewas.
“We await the process,” he stated.
“We greatly appreciate the public’s role in overseeing the enforcement of law at the KPK. We will continue to monitor the handling of this case, particularly from an ethical perspective,” said KPK Dewas Chairman Gusrizal in a written statement on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Gusrizal said that the Dewas has received several complaints from various elements of society since Wednesday (25/3/2026).
He stated that the complaints question the legal and ethical basis behind the decision to change Yaqut’s detention status from being held in a Detention Centre (Rutan) to house arrest.
Gusrizal said that the Dewas affirms it will follow up on these complaints in accordance with applicable provisions and standard operational procedures (POB).
“We greatly appreciate the public’s role in overseeing the enforcement of law at the KPK. We will continue to monitor the handling of this case, particularly from an ethical perspective,” he added.
Gusrizal also emphasised the Dewas’s unwavering commitment to carrying out its supervisory function.
“The Dewas will continue to monitor every stage of handling this case, particularly from the ethical and behavioural aspects of KPK personnel, to ensure there is no abuse of authority in the future,” he said.
As of Friday (27/3/2026), there were two reports submitted to the KPK Dewas regarding ethical violations committed by KPK leadership related to the change in Yaqut’s detention status.
First, Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman reported the KPK leadership and enforcement team to the KPK Dewas on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
