KPK Chairman Claims Not Yet Summoned by Oversight Board Over Yaqut House Arrest Controversy

Jakarta – KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto has claimed he has not received a summons from the KPK Oversight Board (Dewas) regarding the transfer of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to house arrest status. The transfer of Yaqut’s detention to house arrest has become a controversy and was reported to the KPK Dewas by several parties. “As for the leadership, not yet, but perhaps more specifically, that should be asked to Dewas,” Setyo told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Setyo declined to comment further on the summons. As the respondent, Setyo said he could only wait for the report to be processed by Dewas. “We’ll just wait for the process,” he stated. It is known that Yaqut Cholil Qoumas became a house detainee after his family requested it from the KPK on 17 March 2026. The KPK granted the request and ensured that Yaqut would still be monitored. It is known that Yaqut Cholil was designated as one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case related to the 2023-2024 Hajj quota for Indonesia by the KPK on 9 January 2026. Yaqut was officially detained on 12 March 2026 as a suspect after his pre-trial was rejected. On 23 March 2026, the KPK announced it was processing the transfer of Yaqut’s detention from house arrest back to rutan detention. On 24 March 2026, Yaqut arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building and subsequently became a rutan detainee.
