KPK Chair in Intensive Communication with Nanik on MBG Programme Improvements
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chair Setyo Budiyanto stated that his agency is maintaining intensive communication with National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Nanik Sudaryati Deyang. The communication is aimed at implementing systemic improvements to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. “Technically, they have been in contact and have communicated. This means the most important thing is that the system must be changed. Everything must be transparent, and all parties must be involved,” Setyo said at the State Administration Agency (LAN RI) building in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/6/2026). Regarding the KPK’s own investigation into the MBG programme, Setyo suggested observing developments at the Attorney General’s Office, which is handling a similar case. He noted that coordination could be arranged if necessary. “The Attorney General’s Office has already done many things; we will just wait and see. If coordination is needed, we will coordinate,” he stated. The KPK has already coordinated with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) regarding its MBG inquiry. To date, there has been no communication with the Attorney General’s Office concerning the MBG investigation. “If the examination has been maximised, well, I previously coordinated with the Head of BPKP on the earlier process,” he said. Previously, the KPK disclosed it was also investigating cases within the MBG programme. However, the KPK will determine the next steps later, given that the Attorney General’s Office is pursuing the same matter. “Correct, I have conveyed that we actually already had an inquiry, but then another law enforcement agency elevated its process to the investigation stage. Under statutory provisions, there cannot be a dualism of investigations,” said Acting KPK Investigation Director Taufik Ahmad Husein at the KPK building in Kuningan, Jakarta, on Monday (8/6). The KPK will decide on the follow-up through an internal case review. Taufik said coordination would be carried out regarding the next steps, including the possibility of transferring the case to the Attorney General’s Office. “Of course, we will also look at the synergy and whether we will develop the investigation process further, or whether the data will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office. We will await the results of the case review and whatever the leadership decides,” he explained.
