KPK Chair: Closed Investigation at Directorate General of Immigration is Underway

The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto, has revealed that a closed investigation within the environment of the Directorate General of Immigration is currently in progress. This was stated by Setyo when asked regarding a sting operation (OTT) in West Jakarta today, which is suspected to have targeted Immigration officials. “Yes, a closed investigation is underway,” Setyo told CNNIndonesia.com via written message on Wednesday (3/6). Some of the individuals caught in the sting operation have already arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta. Based on gathered information, in addition to the parties involved, the KPK will also bring evidence from the operation, such as motor vehicles, to the agency’s headquarters. This undercover operation is suspected to be related to allegations of extortion regarding work permits for Foreign Nationals (WNA). The anti-corruption agency has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties caught in the sting operation.
