KPK Calls on Kuansing Regent and Secretary to Surrender

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has called on Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby and Regional Secretary Zulkarnain to surrender. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday that the two public officials are required to be cooperative and turn themselves in. Their presence and testimony are needed by the KPK following the agency’s 14th sting operation this year. The KPK apprehended ten individuals in Kuansing and Jakarta during the operation, and five of them have been brought in for questioning. The KPK has a 1x24 hour window to determine the legal status of those arrested, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. This operation follows a series of arrests in 2026, including a tax official in January, the Mayor of Madiun and the Regent of Pati, and a tax office head in Banjarmasin in February. Subsequent operations led to the arrests of a former customs director, the head and deputy head of the Depok District Court, and three regents during Ramadan. The most recent operations before this involved a deputy minister who surrendered and an official from the national audit board.
