KPK: Bupati Kuansing Case Tarnishes Region's Noble Values

When corruption occurs in Kuansing, it is not only the integrity of state officials that is tarnished, but also the public’s trust in the noble values that have long been the pride of the region.

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes that the alleged bribery case involving the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby, stains the noble values of the region, which is known as the birthplace of 'pacu jalur'.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, speaking at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that Kuansing has long been known as the birthplace of ‘pacym jalur’, reflecting the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and the collective work of the community.

“When corruption occurs again in Kuansing, what is tarnished is not only the integrity of state officials, but also the community’s trust in the noble values that have long been the pride of the region,” he said.

Budi noted that the case serves as a reminder that strengthening integrity and corruption prevention efforts in Kuansing must be carried out consistently to ensure similar practices do not recur.

According to him, the alleged corruption also relates to strategic regional projects that directly impact public interests.

“Firstly, there was also a regional head in that area in 2021, namely AP (Andi Putra), as the Regent of Kuansing for the 2021-2025 period, who was found guilty in a corruption case involving bribes for the extension of HGU (land cultivation rights),” he added.

Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals. This operation marked the 14th sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.

The KPK subsequently requested Suhardiman and the Regional Secretary of Kuantan Singingi, Zulkarnain, to surrender on 30 June 2026. Both individuals complied with the summons and were picked up by KPK investigators at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten.

On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in an alleged bribery case related to the trading of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government, Riau.
