KPK: Bupati Kuansing Case Tarnishes Region's Noble Values
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the alleged bribery case involving Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby has tarnished the noble values of a region known as the birthplace of the ‘pacu jalur’ tradition. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said in Jakarta on Wednesday that Kuansing has long been recognised for ‘pacu jalur’, which reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation and collective work. “When corruption occurs again in Kuansing, it is not only the integrity of state officials that is tarnished, but also public trust in the noble values that have been the region’s pride,” he said. Budi added that the case serves as a reminder that strengthening integrity and corruption prevention efforts in Kuansing must be carried out consistently. He noted that the alleged criminal acts are also linked to strategic regional projects that directly impact public interests. The KPK previously conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, arresting 10 individuals. The KPK then requested Suhardiman and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain to surrender on 30 June 2026. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and Ardiles, President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, as suspects in a bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government.
