KPK Brings Tulungagung Regent to Jakarta for Intensive Examination
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) brought Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for intensive examination after conducting a sting operation (OTT) against the regent.
“The regent arrived at the KPK Red and White Building around 06:50 WIB and was immediately subjected to intensive questioning,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the other parties secured in the OTT are still being examined at the Tulungagung Police Resort headquarters, he added.
“We will continue to update developments periodically,” he stated.
The KPK has a period of 1 x 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the OTT in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
It is known that on Friday (10/4), the KPK arrested 16 people in an OTT in Tulungagung, East Java, one of whom was Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo, marking the tenth OTT in 2026.
Previously, the KPK conducted its first OTT in 2026 by arresting eight people on 9-10 January 2026. The arrests concerned alleged bribery in tax examinations within the North Jakarta Medium Tax Service Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, for the period 2021-2026.
The second OTT, on 19 January 2026, saw the KPK confirm the arrest of Madiun Mayor Maidi. On 20 January 2026, the anti-corruption agency announced Maidi as one of the suspects in alleged corruption in the form of extortion through project rewards, CSR funds, and other gratuities within the Madiun City Government, East Java.
On 19 January 2026, the KPK carried out the third OTT and arrested Pati Regent Sudewo. On 20 January 2026, the KPK announced Sudewo as one of the suspects in alleged extortion in the filling of village apparatus positions within the Pati Regency Government, Central Java.
The fourth OTT, on 4 February 2026, was in the environment of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Service Office, South Kalimantan. The arrests related to the tax restitution process in that tax office.
On 4 February 2026, the KPK announced the fifth OTT related to the importation of counterfeit goods. One of those arrested was former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance, Rizal, who was serving as Head of the West Sumatra Customs Region Office.
The sixth OTT was revealed on 5 February 2026, concerning alleged corruption in handling a 6,500 square metre land dispute within the Depok District Court, West Java. The KPK named Depok District Court Chief I Wayan Eka Mariarta, Deputy Chief Bambang Setyawan, and Director of PT Karabha Digdaya—a subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance—as suspects.
The seventh OTT was announced on 3 March 2026, during the Ramadan month. The KPK named Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq as the sole suspect in a case of alleged corruption related to the procurement of outsourcing services or contract labour, and other procurements within the Pekalongan Regency Government for the 2023-2026 fiscal years.
The eighth OTT, still during Ramadan, saw the KPK on 10 March 2026 announce the arrest and subsequent naming of Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari as one of the suspects in alleged project bribery within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu, for the 2025-2026 fiscal years.
The ninth OTT, still during Ramadan, was conducted by the KPK on 13 March 2026 with the arrest of Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. Syamsul Auliya later became one of the suspects in a case of alleged extortion and other receipts within the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java, for the 2025-2026 fiscal years.
