KPK Begins Summoning Witnesses in Case of Non-Active West Lombok Regent LAZ
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun summoning witnesses for examination in the investigation of a corruption case implicating the non-active Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, also known as LAZ.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Monday that the commission had scheduled the examination of 13 witnesses at the Representative Office of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) in West Nusa Tenggara.
Budi further stated that the witnesses include the Secretary of the West Lombok Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP), Ahmad Fathoni; the Head of the West Lombok Regional Revenue Agency, Lalu Agha Farabi; and three civil servants from the West Lombok PUPRPKP Agency with the initials YS, GER, and SR.
However, when asked whether all the witnesses had complied with the summons or about the results of their examinations, Budi did not provide an answer.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) that resulted in the arrest of West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini on 20 July 2026. This operation was the 17th carried out by the KPK throughout 2026.
On 21 July 2026, the KPK named Lalu Ahmad Zaini and the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman, as suspects in a case of alleged conflict of interest in the procurement of goods and services. The anti-corruption agency also named both individuals, along with the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument (MSI), Alvonsus Gani, as suspects in an alleged bribery case within the West Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara.
