KPK Auctions Two Phones with Reserve Price of Rp 73,000, Sold for Rp 59.72 Million

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) acknowledged that two OPPO mobile phones with a reserve price of Rp 73,000 that sold for approximately Rp 59.72 million at auction represents an anomaly.

“That is correct; there is indeed an anomaly regarding the high value of the auction winner,” said Mungki Hadipraktikto, Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management, and Execution at the KPK, to journalists in Jakarta on Monday.

However, Hadipraktikto explained that this is not the first occurrence of such an anomaly.

“This happened once before during an auction some time ago. The item was a silk batik shirt with a reserve price of Rp 5,000, and a winner offered Rp 5 million,” he explained.

He stated that the auction winner in that case subsequently failed to pay the agreed price.

“The auction winner at that time defaulted or failed to settle the balance of the auction costs, so it was re-auctioned and the next auction sold for Rp 2.5 million, which was paid by the winner. So this is the second time this has happened,” he said.

Meanwhile, he stated that according to the latest data he obtained, the winning bidder for the two phones priced at Rp 73,000 had only deposited the security amount and had not yet settled the full payment. The settlement deadline is 25 March 2026.

For this reason, he stated that the KPK is still awaiting the auction winner to settle payment for the two phones.

“We remain hopeful that the auction winner is committed to paying the auction costs because if not paid, the auction winner will be considered in default. As a result, the security deposit that has been deposited will be forfeited and transferred to the state treasury, and we will auction the goods again at the next auction opportunity,” he said.
