KPK Asks Finance Minister Purbaya to Report Any Doubts Regarding TikTok Broadcast Gifts
“We are reminded of the story of General Hoegeng, who closed his wife’s flower shop because people who bought flowers might do so because of his position, and this could lead to conflicts of interest,”
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has invited Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to report to the anti-corruption agency if he has any doubts regarding gifts received from viewers during a live broadcast on his son’s TikTok account. His son is Yuda Purboyo Sunu.
“If in doubt, he can consult or report it. Reporting gratuities is very easy; it can be done online via gol.kpk.go.id or through the Gratification Control Unit (UPG) at the Ministry of Finance, or he can report it directly to the KPK,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Budi said the KPK appreciates Purbaya’s caution regarding the potential for gratuities.
“We certainly appreciate the Minister for being aware and cautious about the potential for gratuities,” he said.
However, he said the KPK suggested that Purbaya disable the gift-receiving feature if he does live broadcasts on TikTok in the future, and reminded him of the story of former National Police Chief General Hoegeng Iman Santoso.
“We are reminded of the story of General Hoegeng, who closed his wife’s flower shop because people who bought flowers might do so because of his position, and this could lead to conflicts of interest,” he said.
Previously, Purbaya appeared in a TikTok live broadcast on his son’s account. During the broadcast, they received several gifts, such as a “whale” gift worth more than IDR 1 million.
