KPK Arrests West Lombok Regent, Seizes Hundreds of Millions in Cash
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in a sting operation, seizing hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the cash and several related documents were secured during the operation. “Up to this point, the money secured amounts to hundreds of millions of rupiah, along with several other related documents. This will certainly be investigated further in the initial examination,” Budi said at the KPK office in Jakarta on Monday (20/7). He explained that a total of 19 individuals were detained in the operation, seven of whom will be transported to Jakarta. Budi noted that the Regent was arrested at his official residence in the morning. “The parties detained since this morning include the Regent, who was arrested at his official residence. Other parties were also detained at several locations in West Lombok Regency,” he said. The case allegedly involves gratuities received by Lalu Ahmad Zaini related to projects within the West Lombok Regency administration.
