KPK Arrests West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in Sting Operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in a sting operation (OTT) conducted on Monday morning. The arrest took place at the regent’s official residence. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the operation, stating, “The regent was arrested this morning at his official residence.” In addition to the regent, the KPK enforcement team detained 18 other individuals in the West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The identities of the other parties have not yet been detailed. All those detained underwent initial examination at the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police. Following the local examinations, seven people, including the regent, were immediately transported to Jakarta for further intensive investigation at the KPK’s Red and White Building. KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the operation, noting that this marks the 17th sting operation carried out by the anti-graft body in 2026. As part of the follow-up, KPK investigators sealed the regent’s office and several other rooms within the West Lombok Regency government offices to secure evidence. Under the Criminal Procedure Code, the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested, with an official announcement regarding the case details and suspects expected shortly.
