KPK Arrests West Lombok Regent in Sting Operation Over Project Kickbacks

Jakarta, tvOnenews.com – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that the sting operation that ensnared West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini was connected to payments received in relation to projects.

“This case is allegedly related to payments received by the regent in connection with projects within West Lombok Regency,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Monday, 20 July 2026.

Budi disclosed that, in addition to securing several individuals, the KPK also seized evidence in the form of cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah along with several documents.

“As of now, the cash secured amounts to hundreds of millions of rupiah, as well as several related documents, which will of course continue to be examined in this preliminary investigation,” he said.

Budi stated that the covert operation conducted by the KPK secured 19 people, comprising civil servants (ASN) and private sector parties.

The evidence and the individuals secured will subsequently undergo further questioning.

“Among those secured are officials from the West Lombok Regency Government and several from the private sector,” Budi explained.

Earlier, the KPK secured 19 people following a sting operation conducted in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Seven of them were brought to Jakarta.

“We have secured 19 people, seven of whom will be taken tonight to the KPK’s Merah Putih building for further questioning,” said Budi.

He said that among all those secured, one is the Regent of West Lombok. The seven individuals are expected to arrive in Jakarta at around 21:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
