KPK Arrests Seven, Including Langkat Regent, in Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Langkat Regent Syah Afandin in a sting operation (OTT). A total of seven people were secured by the KPK in this operation. “We have secured a total of seven people. One is a state official, one is a civil servant in Langkat Regency, and the other five are private sector parties. Among the seven people detained, one is the Regent of Langkat,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026). The seven individuals were detained across three areas. Some are still being examined at the Medan Police Headquarters, while Syah Afandin, also known as Ondim, will be brought to Jakarta this afternoon. “The seven people detained in this caught-in-the-act incident were secured in the Langkat, Binjai, and Medan areas,” he stated. Those caught in the sting operation are still being held as examinees. The KPK has a 1x24 hour period to determine the legal status of the detained parties.
