KPK Arrests Seven in Sting Operation Targeting Langkat Regent Syah Afandin

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, securing seven individuals. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the arrests on Friday, 3 July 2026, stating that among those detained were Langkat Regent Syah Afandin, several civil servants (ASN), and private sector representatives. The Langkat Regent is being transported to Jakarta for further examination by investigators. This operation follows another recent KPK sting in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, related to alleged bribery in the filling of official positions, which resulted in the detention of three suspects, including the regent.
