KPK Arrests Rejang Lebong Regent in Sting Operation; Multiple Suspects Detained

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has indicated that more than one person has been secured in the sting operation (OTT) that ensnared Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that in addition to the regional leader, several other parties were also detained in the operation.

“Several parties have been secured,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Budi added that the KPK planned to bring Rejang Lebong Regent together with other parties to Jakarta on Tuesday morning (10 March) to undergo further examination.

In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1 × 24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties arrested in the Rejang Lebong Regent sting operation.

The arrest of Rejang Lebong Regent represents the eighth sting operation conducted by the KPK throughout 2026.

The first sting operation of the year took place on 9-10 January 2026, with the arrest of eight individuals related to alleged bribery in tax examination at the Tax Service Office (KPP) Madya North Jakarta, Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance.

The second sting operation took place on 19 January 2026, when the KPK arrested Madiun Mayor Maidi, who was subsequently established as a suspect in an alleged extortion case related to projects and corporate social responsibility funds within the Madiun City Government.

On the same date, the KPK also conducted a third sting operation by arresting Pati Regent Sudewo, who was subsequently established as a suspect in an alleged extortion case concerning the appointment of village officials in Pati District, Central Java.

The fourth sting operation was conducted on 4 February 2026 at KPP Madya Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, related to alleged corruption in the tax restitution process.

Also on the same date, the KPK revealed a fifth sting operation concerning a case of importing counterfeit or cheap imitation goods, involving former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance, Rizal, who at that time served as Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs and Excise Office.

The sixth sting operation was announced on 5 February 2026, related to alleged corruption in the handling of a land dispute covering 6,500 square metres within the District Court of Depok, West Java. In this case, the KPK established several parties as suspects, including Head of District Court of Depok I Wayan Eka Mariarta, Deputy Head of District Court of Depok Bambang Setyawan, and Director of PT Karabha Digdaya, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance.

The seventh sting operation was announced on 3 March 2026, coinciding with the month of Ramadan. The KPK established Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq as sole suspect in an alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of outsourcing services and other procurements within the Pekalongan District Government for the 2023-2026 budget year.

Meanwhile, the eighth sting operation was announced on 10 March 2026, with the arrest of Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.
