KPK Arrests Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong in Corruption Sting Operation in Bengkulu
The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) arrested Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong Hendri as part of a series of sting operations that ensnared Regent of Rejang Lebong Muhammad Fikri Thobari in Bengkulu on the evening of Monday, 9 March 2026.
“Yes, one of them as well,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
In total, the KPK arrested 13 people in the sting operation that evening, including Fikri and Hendri.
Budi stated that the 13 individuals were initially interrogated at Kepahiang Police Station and Bengkulu City Police Station.
“Of the nine people brought to Jakarta this morning, one is a regent, then a deputy regent. And also three other civil servants from the Rejang Lebong district government administration. Then, four other individuals are from the private sector,” Budi said.
The KPK also seized a substantial amount of cash during the sting operation.
“Evidence was secured, including documentary evidence and electronic evidence, as well as cash,” Budi stated.
“In this sting operation, it is suspected to be related to project bribery,” Budi said.
The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested in the sting operation.
