KPK Arrests Pemalang Regent, Seizes Rp2.7 Billion in Sting Operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four suspects in an alleged corruption case within the Pemalang Regency Administration, following a sting operation (operasi tangkap tangan).

The four suspects are the Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widyantoro; Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, an administrative staff member of the KPK; Lilik Budi Suprianto; and Mohamad Haris, a private sector party. In the case, the KPK seized approximately Rp2.7 billion in cash as evidence and detained the suspects for an initial period of 20 days, until 18 August 2026.

The seized money, in various rupiah denominations, was displayed as evidence at a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026). Investigators are still tracing the origins of the funds and the parties allegedly involved in the matter.

The KPK stated that the case involves not only alleged extortion of officials and interested parties within the Pemalang Regency Administration, but also alleged extortion related to the handling of cases at the KPK, which investigators are still exploring.

The sting operation was carried out in Pemalang, Purworejo and Jakarta. From the operation, the KPK secured 21 people for questioning before naming four of them as suspects and proceeding with the legal process in accordance with applicable regulations.

The KPK said the investigation will continue to be developed, including tracing the possibility of other parties who benefited from or played a role in the alleged corruption offences.
