KPK Arrests Pemalang Regent, Seizes Rp2.7 Billion in Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named four suspects in a corruption case within the Pemalang Regency administration following a sting operation (OTT). The suspects are Pemalang Regent Anom Widyantoro, KPK administrative staff member Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, Lilik Budi Suprianto, and private party Mohamad Haris. During the operation, KPK investigators seized evidence amounting to approximately Rp2.7 billion in cash. The suspects have been detained for an initial 20-day period until 18 August 2026. The KPK stated that the case not only involves alleged extortion against officials and interested parties within the Pemalang Regency Government but also suspected bribery related to the handling of a case at the KPK. The sting operation was conducted across Pemalang, Purworejo, and Jakarta, with 21 individuals initially taken in for questioning before the four were formally named as suspects. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing to trace the flow of funds and identify other parties who may have received benefits or played a role in the alleged corruption.
