The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted another sting operation (OTT) against a regional leader, this time arresting the Regent of Pemalang, Central Java, Anom Widiyantoro. Several individuals were taken to the Pemalang Police Station for further examination.

Pemalang Police Chief AKBP Rendy Setia Permana confirmed that the KPK had borrowed the police station for its activities in Pemalang. “Yes, it is true, last night our colleagues from the KPK had activities in Pemalang. The examination process is still ongoing. Two rooms at the police station are being used,” Rendy told journalists on Wednesday (29/7). However, Rendy declined to comment on the exact number of people brought in or their identities, stating that details of the examination should be awaited from the KPK.

Since Tuesday night (29/07), the KPK has sealed an office and two houses in the Mutiara Residence housing complex in Mulyoharjo Village, Pemalang Regency. Field observations showed that the head of department’s room at the Public Works and Spatial Planning (DPUPR) office remained sealed, with a KPK seal sticker affixed to the access door. Journalists have not yet been granted access to the Pemalang Regent’s office to verify if seals are present there.

The two sealed houses are located in Block B and Block C of the Mutiara Residence. The house in Block B is known to be the residence of a man with the initial O, who is reportedly a contractor and a relative of Regent Anom Widiyantoro. Sources also stated that the regent’s wife, NFM, was picked up by KPK officers from the official residence, or Pendopo, of Pemalang in the early hours of Wednesday (29/07).

The KPK seized more than Rp2 billion in cash during the sting operation that ensnared Regent Anom Widiyantoro. The agency also sealed several rooms within the Pemalang Regency Government offices following the operation. This arrest is the KPK’s 18th OTT of 2026, occurring despite a previous commitment to corruption prevention.
