The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the sting operation (OTT) against Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro relates to alleged corruption in projects and the buying and selling of positions within the Pemalang Regency Government in Central Java.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, speaking at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026), said the alleged payments received by the Pemalang Regent were connected to projects within the regional government as well as the practice of trading official positions.

“This relates to alleged payments received by the Regent in connection with projects in Pemalang Regency. In addition, the payments received by the Regent are also suspected to be linked to the buying and selling of official positions,” he said.

According to Budi, the KPK is still discussing the legal construction of the case and the articles to be charged, including the possibility of bribery or extortion charges connected to those projects.

In the sting operation, the KPK secured 21 people in Jakarta, Pemalang and Purworejo. Of that number, 12 people were taken to Jakarta for further questioning.

In addition, investigators seized around Rp2 billion in cash and sealed a number of locations connected to the case. The KPK has 1 x 24 hours from the time of arrest to determine the legal status of those detained, in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
