KPK Arrests Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq While Charging Electric Vehicle at SPKLU
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq was charging or recharging an electric vehicle at a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU). ‘This is because the car is an electric vehicle. He was charging at SPKLU,’ said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the Red and White Building (Gedung Merah Putih) of KPK, on Wednesday, 4 March. Initially, Asep said investigators had previously known that Fadia owned an electric vehicle. ‘So our fellow investigators on the ground already knew or could obtain information regarding the type of car and its registration number,’ Asep said. When investigators arrived in Semarang, Asep said the investigators were fortunate to find Fadia’s electric vehicle being charged at SPKLU. ‘Well when we arrived in Semarang, that was also a bit of good fortune. We searched and indeed there were electric vehicles there. Being charged at that moment. That is where we found it,’ he stated. Earlier, KPK conducted the arrest operation (OTT) in the early hours of Tuesday in Semarang, Central Java. KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq along with an aide and a trusted ally. ‘That in the early hours of today the team secured three people, one of whom is the Pekalongan Regent and the other two are a close associate and aides to the Regent,’ KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters at the Red and White Building, on Tuesday afternoon. Fadia has been named as the sole suspect in a case of alleged corruption in outsourcing services procurement and other procurements within the Pekalongan Regency Government for the 2023-2026 Fiscal Year.
