KPK Arrests Langkat Regent in Sting Operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted a sting operation in the North Sumatra region. During the operation, the KPK detained Langkat Regent Syah Afandin. “It is true,” said KPK Deputy Chairperson Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed on Friday (3/7/2026). The number and identities of the parties caught in the sting operation have not yet been detailed. It has also not been specified which case the sting operation is related to. Those caught in the operation are still being examined. The KPK has 1 x 24 hours to determine the status of the detained parties.
