KPK Arrests Five BPK Officials in Follow-up OTT in Muara Enim Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a follow-up sting operation (OTT) stemming from the case that implicated inactive Muara Enim Regent Edison, and has arrested five civil servants (ASN) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) RI out of a total of 11 people detained. “The parties secured total 11. Six people were also secured in yesterday’s hand-arrest event, and five other people are new parties secured in this hand arrest. These five people are ASN from the Supreme Audit Agency,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/6). According to Budi, the eleven people are currently being intensively examined by the KPK. “Earlier this afternoon an expose (case presentation) was also held, and based on this closed investigation, it was decided to elevate it to the investigation stage based on sufficient and valid preliminary evidence. Furthermore, investigators will designate the responsible parties as suspects,” he said. Meanwhile, he explained that the follow-up OTT, which is the 13th conducted by the KPK during 2026, is related to the alleged bribery from Muara Enim Regency Government officials to parties within BPK RI. “This alleged payment is related to BPK’s findings in procurement, one of which is the smart TV that we previously explained in the construction of the Muara Enim case,” he said. Thus, he stated that the follow-up OTT case conducted by the KPK is different from the OTT that ensnared Edison. “In essence, the two cases are related, but different. One is bribery related to procurement, and the other is bribery related to BPK’s findings in the Muara Enim Regency Government,” he said.
