A total of five civil servants (ASN) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) have been caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as part of the ongoing investigation into a case implicating Muara Enim Regent, Edison. The KPK stated that this operation relates to the procurement of a smart board project in Muara Enim. “So far, this concerns efforts to cover up BPK findings relating to procurements within the Muara Enim Regency government, one of which is the procurement of smart televisions,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Merah Putih building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday. This operation is a continuation of the sting conducted against Muara Enim Regent Edison. The KPK explained that bribes were given by the Muara Enim Regency government to BPK officials. “The KPK has again conducted arrests as a follow-up to that case, where this arrest relates to the alleged payment of bribes from the Muara Enim Regency government to parties within the Audit Board of Indonesia,” he said. In the OTT case concerning the Muara Enim Regent, 11 people have been detained in total. Six individuals were secured in the first cluster of operations, and five BPK civil servants were apprehended in the second cluster. “So the total number of parties detained is 11. Six people were also detained in yesterday’s operation, while five others are new parties detained in this latest operation. These five individuals are civil servants from the Audit Board of Indonesia,” he clarified. The KPK has not yet detailed the identities of the BPK civil servants caught. The commission has 1x24 hours to determine their legal status. In this case, the KPK has already detained four individuals after they were named suspects. Besides Muara Enim Regent Edison, three other parties have been named suspects and detained: 1. Abi Nurwardani, Secretary of the Education and Culture Office for 2026; 2. Adi Triyadi, the Regent’s nephew; 3. Cory Erin Hardi, Marketing for PT Millenium Solusi Abadi. The KPK has charged Edison, Abi, and Adi under Article 12 letter a and/or Article 12 letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption. Meanwhile, Cory, as a private sector party, is charged under Article 605 letter a and/or Article 605 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2026. The KPK has commenced detaining the suspects for the first 20-day period from 9 to 28 June 2026 at the State Detention Centre, Merah Putih KPK building branch.
