KPK Arrests Deputy Regent Hendri Over Alleged Knowledge of Rejang Lebong Projects
Jakarta — The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong Hendri on suspicion of having knowledge of projects within the government of Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu province.
“So, why? Because certainly the deputy regent, in addition to the regent and heads of departments, also has knowledge of these projects,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
Additionally, the KPK suspected that the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong form a single unit, having been paired as regional leaders since the 2024 regional elections.
Because of this, Rahayu stated that the KPK had arrested and brought Hendri to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for intensive questioning.
“We expect information from the person concerned, this deputy regent, regarding activities or projects in Bengkulu, specifically in Rejang Lebong,” she said.
However, she stated that the KPK subsequently found insufficient evidence to establish Hendri’s status as a suspect, and therefore he was released after being questioned in Jakarta.
On 10 March 2026, the KPK brought the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong along with seven others to Jakarta for intensive questioning.
On the same date, the KPK also announced Muhammad Fikri Thobari as one of five suspects in a case involving allegations of bribery.
On 11 March 2025, the KPK announced the identities of the suspects, namely Muhammad Fikri Thobari (MFT), Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlements of Rejang Lebong; Hary Eko Purnomo (HEP); Irsyad Satria Budiman (IRS) as a private party from PT Statika Mitra Sarana; Edi Manggala (EDM) as a private party from CV Manggala Utama; and Youki Yusdiantoro (YK) as a private party from CV Alpagker Abadi.
They are suspects in allegations of bribery and extortion related to projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu, for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
