Coordinator of KontraS Working Body Dimas Bagus Arya stated that the attack constitutes serious violence against a human rights defender that must be quickly addressed through a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement.
“This incident is an attempt to silence critical voices of society, particularly human rights defenders,” said Dimas in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (13/3).

Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai strongly condemned the caustic soda attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus and called upon the police force to immediately investigate the perpetrators and the motive behind the incident.
Pigai stated that violence against human rights activists cannot be justified and must be addressed through objective legal proceedings to ensure justice for the victim.
“As Human Rights Minister, I strongly condemn the acid attack. I request that the police force immediately investigate and thoroughly determine the perpetrators and the motive behind this incident, and ensure that those responsible are processed through the law objectively so that justice for the victim can be realised,” said Pigai in a statement in Jakarta on Friday (13/3).
