KPK Arrests Central Java BPK Chief in Klaten Regent’s Sting Operation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed the arrest of Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, head of the Central Java provincial office of the Audit Board (BPK), in a sting operation involving Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo.
“One of them is indeed the head of the Central Java representative office [of the BPK],” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday.
Budi said the KPK had arrested two people from the BPK in total in the operation.
“So, there are two civil servants from the BPK,” he said.
Budi added that 20 people had been caught up in the operation: 19 arrested in Klaten, Central Java, and one in Jakarta. The person arrested in Jakarta was affiliated with the BPK.
The KPK was scheduled to hold a case conference that evening.
Earlier, the KPK confirmed that it had carried out its 23rd sting operation of 2026, arresting Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo.
The commission said the operation was linked to alleged bribes received by Hamenang in connection with the procurement of goods and services, licensing, and other payments from regional government agencies.
The KPK also suspects Hamenang of bribing BPK personnel in connection with an audit of the Klaten Regency Government’s financial statements.
During the operation, KPK investigators seized evidence including approximately Rp1 billion in cash.
