KPK Arrests 27 People in Operation Against Cilacap Regent

Jakarta – Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) arrested 27 people in a sting operation targeting Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.

“The team secured 27 individuals, including the Cilacap Regent,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists.

Budi explained that the 26 other detainees comprised private sector representatives and civil servants. He stated they are undergoing intensive questioning.

“Intensive interrogation is currently underway at the location. Subsequently, the team will conduct further examination and bring detainees to KPK headquarters in Jakarta,” he said.

The arrest of Syamsul Auliya Rachman was confirmed directly by KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto.

“That’s correct – the Cilacap Regent has been arrested,” Fitroh said, as reported on 13 March 2026.

Under Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained in the operation, including the regent, who is a regional head in Central Java province.
