KPK Arrests 19 in West Lombok Sting Operation, Including Regent
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained 19 people in a sting operation in West Lombok, NTB, on Monday (20/7). KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that one of those detained was West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini. Of the 19 individuals, seven will be taken to Jakarta this evening. “The team has secured 19 people, seven of whom will be taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih building tonight for further examination. Among those detained is the Regent of West Lombok,” Budi said at his office in Jakarta on Monday. In addition to detaining the parties involved, the KPK also seized evidence, including hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash and several documents suspected to be related to the case. Budi stated that the case implicating Lalu Ahmad Zaini is allegedly related to payments he received concerning projects within the West Lombok Regency administration. “The detained parties include individuals from the West Lombok Regency Government and several from the private sector. Those brought to Jakarta will be those required for further examination,” he said.
