KPK announces investigation in Bogor Regency after denying sting operation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced the issuance of a new investigation warrant (sprindik) related to alleged corruption within the Bogor Regency government, West Java, after previously denying that it had conducted a sting operation (OTT) in the area.

“A general investigation warrant is still being used at this stage. This means no suspects have yet been named in the case,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Budi, the decision to issue the general investigation warrant was made by the KPK on Thursday evening (20/8).

“From the series of investigative activities carried out, a case review was held last night at the leadership level and it was decided that the matter should proceed to the investigation stage,” he said.

He added that KPK investigators would need time to deepen the investigation, including by summoning a number of witnesses.

“Witnesses will be summoned to provide statements and confirm a number of matters arising from the preliminary inquiry that has already been conducted,” he said.

Earlier, reports had circulated that the KPK had conducted a sting operation in Bogor Regency on 20 August 2026.

The KPK subsequently clarified the information by stating that no sting operation had taken place in Bogor Regency.
