KPK and Yaqut Ready to Reveal All in Hajj Quota Corruption Trial

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas have stated they are ready to reveal all details in the trial of the alleged hajj quota corruption case. “At the trial stage later, everything will be presented openly, including the case construction, the parties suspected of involvement, their respective roles, and the evidence,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7/2026). According to Budi, the KPK public prosecutor will present this in a complete and transparent manner. He added that the KPK will also present a number of witnesses to strengthen the prosecutor’s indictment against Yaqut and three other defendants. On a separate occasion, Yaqut Cholil asked the public to be patient regarding the revelations in the hajj quota corruption case. “Yes, what has not been revealed will come out in the trial. Just wait for the trial,” said Yaqut at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, before entering the detention vehicle. The KPK began its investigation into the alleged corruption case involving Indonesia’s hajj quota for 2023–2024 on 9 August 2025. Subsequently, on 9 January 2026, the KPK named Yaqut and his former special staffer, Ishfadal Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, as suspects. Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of hajj organiser bureau Maktour, was not named a suspect, despite having been placed on a travel ban list.
