KPK Also Investigating MBG Case, Will Hold Case Review to Determine Next Steps
The KPK has revealed that it is conducting an investigation into cases involving the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. However, the KPK will determine the next steps following a case review, as the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) is already investigating the same matter.
“It is true, as I have stated, we have an ongoing investigation, but other law enforcement agencies have already elevated the process to the investigation stage. According to legal regulations, there cannot be dual investigations,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Tuanfik Ahmad Husein, at the KPK building in Jakarta on Monday (8/6/2026).
The KPK will decide on its follow-up action through a case review. Taufik noted that coordination will be conducted regarding the next steps, including the possibility of transferring the case to the Attorney General’s Office.
“We will certainly look at the synergy and decide whether we will develop the investigation process or if the data will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office. We are awaiting the results of the case review and the decision made by the leadership,” he added.
The Attorney General’s Office has reportedly named three former officials of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as suspects in this case. They include the former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and two former Deputy Heads, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung.
The three are alleged to have intervened in the verification process of BGN’s partner portals to ensure that foundations owned by them passed, despite being unqualified. Furthermore, the suspects are allegedly affiliated with several Food Service Providers (SPPG). Through these affiliations, several SPPG foundations reportedly received billions of rupiah every day.
In addition to the affiliation scheme, the Attorney General’s Office revealed that Dadan and his associates allegedly engaged in budget markups related to the MBG programme. These budget inflations involved goods and services that did not meet field requirements. The marked-up procurement included 21,801 electric motorcycles. Additionally, price inflation was found in the procurement of 32,000 pairs of shoes at the BGN, with the budget value reaching Rp 1 trillion.
