KPK Also Detains Private Sector Parties in Sting Operation Against West Jakarta Immigration Head
The Corruption Eradates Commission (KPK) has also detained private sector parties during a sting operation (OTT) targeting the Head of West Jakarta Immigration on 2-3 June 2026. The KPK has arrested dozens of individuals in connection with the operation, some of whom have already been taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta for further interrogation.
“We will provide further details later, as private sector parties were also detained alongside state officials,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6).
Budi explained that the sting operation is related to the processing of permits for Foreign Nationals (WNA) to reside in Indonesia. When asked whether foreign nationals and lawyers were among those caught, Budi requested the public’s patience.
“We will explain the construction of the case in a press conference. In the process of managing KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) or KITAP (Permanent Stay Permit), foreign nationals may use intermediaries for the process,” he noted.
Budi added that the KPK enforcement team also seized various pieces of evidence, including motor vehicles, foreign currency, and gold bullion. “There are cars, motorcycles, and evidence in the form of cash, foreign currency including USD and SGD, as well as gold bullion,” he said.
Budi was unable to share more information as the enforcement team remains active in the field. “Since last night, the team has been conducting activities in West Jakarta, and as the situation develops, the team is also currently operating in Bali and West Java,” he added.
Under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the anti-corruption agency has 24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties caught in the sting operation.
