The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) alleges that Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq mobilised staff from PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB) to support her in the 2024 Pekalongan regional election. The KPK is still verifying the information through witness testimonies.

“Yes, FAR is suspected of directly or through intermediaries requesting outsourcing personnel employed and assigned to various regency departments to support her in the Pekalongan election,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at his office in Jakarta on Friday (29 May) afternoon.

“This indicates an alleged effort to mobilise or rally votes to ensure outsourcing personnel support her in the Pekalongan regional election,” he added.

Budi stated that the outsourcing staff had been prepared by Fadia after PT RNB was established and won several government procurement contracts within Pekalongan Regency.

“These tactics also enrich the KPK’s preventive framework studies, particularly regarding political parties and electoral matters, not just as part of the investigation material,” Budi said.

The KPK has named Fadia as the sole suspect in a corruption case involving outsourcing services and other procurements for the 2023-2026 fiscal year. She is currently detained at the KPK’s Gedung Merah Putih Detention Centre.

She is charged under Article 12 letter i and Article 12B of Law No. 31 of 1999 on Corruption Eradication, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 (the Anti-Corruption Law), in conjunction with Article 127(1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).

The KPK suspects Fadia has full control over the financial transactions of PT RNB.

The case was uncovered by the KPK through a raid (Operasi Tangkap Tangan or OTT) conducted on Tuesday, 3 March.

The KPK has extended Fadia’s detention by 30 days from 3 May until 1 June 2026.

During the ongoing process, the KPK has interviewed numerous witnesses, including PT RNB insiders and her husband, Ashraff Abu, who is a member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and a commissioner of PT RNB.
