KPK Again Questions Former Tax Official Suspected in Rp21.5 Billion Gratification Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again questioned Muhammad Haniv (HNV), the former head of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) Jakarta Special Regional Office, in the gratification case against him. Haniv was examined as a suspect today.
The examination was conducted at the KPK’s Merah Putih building for HNV, who served as head of the DJP Regional Office for Banten from 2011 to 2015 and head of the DJP Jakarta Special Regional Office from 2015 to 2018, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
Haniv has been a suspect in the case since 12 February 2025. The KPK suspects that Haniv received gratuities worth Rp21.5 billion.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu previously said investigators had traced a restaurant and a cottage belonging to Haniv. Both properties are suspected to be linked to the case against him.
The latest condition is the result of our asset tracing, and they are suspected to be proceeds of corruption, Asep told journalists, as quoted on Friday (21/11/2025).
The gratification case is alleged to have occurred while Haniv served as head of the DJP Jakarta Special Regional Office from 2015 to 2018.
The KPK suspects Haniv used his position to request money from several parties. Haniv is alleged to have used the money for his child’s fashion business.
Haniv used his position and network to seek sponsors for his child’s business. He sent emails requesting capital assistance to a number of businesspeople who were taxpayers.
Asep said that, armed with those emails, Haniv received gratuities amounting to Rp804 million to support his child’s fashion business. The KPK also revealed that Haniv received other sums totalling billions of rupiah during his tenure. His total gratuities amounted to Rp21.5 billion.
The KPK said the suspect could not explain the origin of the billions of rupiah. For his actions, Haniv is suspected of violating Article 12 B of the Corruption Eradication Law.
