KPK: After Extortion, Cilacap Regent Planned to Distribute Holiday Allowances of Rp20-100 Million

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, after conducting extortion and receiving the proceeds, planned to distribute holiday allowances (THR) to the regional leadership coordination forum (forkopimda) ranging from Rp20 million to Rp100 million.

“Some received Rp100 million, Rp50 million, and so on. So each forkopimda member received different amounts, with some receiving Rp20 million,” said KPK Deputy for Prosecution and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March.

Asep also stated that the extorted funds totalling approximately Rp610 million were subsequently placed in six white gift bags.

“There were six goodie bags, it appears. Six goodie bags,” he said.

Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth hand-catching operation of the year, which was also the third operation during Ramadhan.

The operation arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, whilst seizing cash in rupiah.

On 14 March 2026, the KPK declared Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in a case of alleged extortion and unlawful receipt in the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java, for the financial year 2025-2026.

Syamsul Auliya targeted obtaining Rp750 million from the extortion, divided into Rp515 million for the Holiday Allowance (THR) of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency, with the remainder for personal use. However, he had only acquired Rp610 million before being arrested by the KPK.
