KPK Acknowledges Police Invitation for Coordination and Supervision on Three Corruption Cases
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has acknowledged that it was invited by the National Police’s Corruption Crime Directorate (Kortas Tipidkor Polri) and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police regarding the handling of three corruption cases currently under investigation. The KPK stated that the invitation was for the purpose of coordination and supervision.
This was conveyed by the KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Asep Guntur Rahayu, during a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday (11/7/2026). The invitation was received by the KPK on Friday (10/7).
“Yesterday morning, Friday morning, the Corruption Eradication Commission received an official invitation from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, addressed to the leadership, regarding the authority possessed by the KPK related to coordination and supervision in handling cases at other law enforcement agencies,” Asep stated.
Asep explained that the KPK attended the invitation in accordance with Article 6 and Article 10A of Law Number 19 of 2019. Under these articles, the KPK is granted the authority to coordinate, supervise, and even take over the investigation and prosecution of corruption cases. Following the letter, the leadership assigned two deputies to attend the meeting.
During the meeting with the police, discussions focused heavily on the coordination and supervision process. Asep noted that the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision explained that the process is still in its early stages. He outlined that the procedure for taking over a case involves stages of communication, coordination, and supervision before any adjustments are made according to the criteria in Article 10A, Paragraph 2 of the KPK Law.
Asep emphasised that the KPK respects the legal processes carried out by other law enforcement agencies. He expressed confidence that both the Police and the Attorney General’s Office will carry out their duties professionally. He also confirmed that there are currently no plans for a joint investigation with the National Police regarding the three cases, as the process is still in the initial stages of coordination and supervision.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, reiterated that the handling of the three corruption cases is a follow-up to directives from President Prabowo Subianto. The police are committed to supporting the President’s national priority of strengthening the eradication of corruption. He stated that the investigations are in line with the seventh ‘Asta Cita’ government agenda, which focuses on strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reform, as well as preventing and eradicating corruption.
