KPK Accepts 2-Year Sentence for Blueray Cargo Boss in Customs Bribery Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it accepts the verdict handed down by the Corruption Court against John Field and his associates. John Field is the head of PT Blueray Cargo, who was involved in a bribery scheme targeting several officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise concerning the importation of goods. “The KPK accepts the decision of the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court against the defendants John Field and his associates as the bribe givers,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday, 17 July 2026. Budi explained that any judge’s decision is part of the law enforcement process and must be respected. He added that this verdict was based on the facts presented during the trial. “The judge’s decision reflects the independence and objectivity of the panel of judges in examining, adjudicating, and deciding a case based on the facts of the trial,” he stated. Furthermore, Budi revealed that the most important aspect of the verdict was that the head of Blueray Cargo and his subordinates were legally proven to have committed bribery. “For the KPK, the most important substance of the verdict is that the panel of judges declared the defendants legally and convincingly proven to have committed corruption by giving bribes to state officials,” he explained. In the verdict, John Field was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, with a subsidiary of 100 days of confinement. Two other defendants, Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo and Andri, who served as the Manager of Customs Clearance and the Head of the Import Document Team at Blueray Cargo respectively, were each sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million, with a subsidiary of 80 days. The prosecutors had previously charged the three with bribing officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The bribes, intended to facilitate the importation of goods, amounted to Rp61.301 billion in cash, along with entertainment and luxury goods facilities valued at Rp1.8 billion. The recipients of the bribes included Rizal, the Director of Enforcement and Investigation; Sisprian Subiaksono, the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate; and Orlando Hamonangan, the Head of the Customs Intelligence Section.
