KPK Accepts 2-Year Sentence for Blueray Cargo Boss in Customs Bribery Case
Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it accepts the verdict handed down by the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court against John Field and his co-defendants.
John Field is the head of PT Blueray Cargo, who was involved in bribing a number of officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excuse in connection with the importation of goods.
“The KPK accepts the verdict of the panel of judges of the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court against the defendants John Field and his co-defendants as the bribe-giving parties,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday, 17 July 2026.
Budi explained that whatever the judges’ verdict, it is part of the law enforcement process that must be respected. Moreover, the verdict was also based on the facts examined during the trial.
“(The judges’ verdict) reflects the independence and objectivity of the panel of judges in examining, trying and deciding a case based on the facts of the trial,” he explained.
In addition, Budi revealed that the most important aspect of the verdict is that it found the Blueray boss and his subordinates legally proven to have committed bribery.
“For the KPK, the most important substance of the verdict is that the panel of judges has declared the defendants legally and convincingly proven to have committed the criminal act of corruption in the form of bribing state officials,” he said.
Verdict on John Field and Co-Defendants
In the verdict hearing held on 10 July, the panel of judges sentenced John Field to two years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, with a subsidiary sentence of 100 days’ imprisonment.
In addition to John Field, the judges also handed down guilty verdicts against two other defendants, namely Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Custom Clearance at the Port for Blueray Cargo (Group), and Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team at Blueray Cargo (Group), with prison sentences of one and a half years and fines of Rp200 million each, with subsidiary prison sentences of 80 days.
Charges Against John Field
The prosecutors charged all three with bribing a number of officials at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise with money amounting to Rp61,301,939,000 (Rp61.3 billion) in Singapore dollars, as well as entertainment facilities and luxury goods worth Rp1,845,000,000 (Rp1.8 billion).
The bribe recipients included the Director of Enforcement and Investigation, Rizal; the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate of the Enforcement and Investigation Directorate, Sisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of Section One of Customs Intelligence at the Enforcement and Investigation Directorate, Orlando Hamonangan.
