KPK Accelerates Investigation of Unresolved Legacy Cases, Targets Completion by 2026

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced that it is accelerating the resolution of long-standing cases that remain unfinished. The agency has set a target to conclude these investigations by 2026.

“In the near future, we will implement an acceleration process for the resolution of these cases because they are a significant point of attention, specifically regarding carry-over cases. This means we intend to resolve these older cases by 2026,” stated the Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Some cases have encountered obstacles related to priority scales and dependencies on external parties, such as expert witnesses. These dependencies fall outside the direct authority of the KPK.

“Those factors are beyond our control, which is why we are targeting a completion date, as some processes will inevitably take a long time,” he noted.

Taufik ensured that despite the existence of priority scales, no investigations are being sidelined. He maintained that all cases will be thoroughly investigated.

“Rest assured that the investigative team will continue to process them. While some cases are currently being prioritised, others are not being neglected but will instead become the next priority,” he said, adding that there will be a structured sequence for the workload.

Throughout 2025, the KPK handled 439 cases involving 118 suspects related to alleged corruption. In 2025, the KPK successfully recovered state assets amounting to Rp 1.53 trillion, marking the highest figure recorded in the last five years.
