Jakarta – KPK Deputy Chairman Ibnu Basuki Widodo stated that corruptors often channel the proceeds of their corruption to their mistresses.

Ibnu made this revelation during the Integrity Strengthening and Anti-Corruption Practices Socialisation event, as viewed on the Purwokerto District Court (PN) YouTube channel on Sunday, 19 April 2026.

Ibnu initially explained that criminal acts of corruption are inseparable from money laundering offences (TPPU).

These TPPU activities are typically used to meet personal needs, family requirements, and holidays. After these needs are fulfilled, Ibnu continued, the flow of funds is directed to mistresses.

“Usually, 81% of the perpetrators are male, and they approach attractive women. That’s the plain truth. But it’s indeed the case; hundreds of millions are poured into those women,” he said.

Ibnu also disclosed that corruption can be the root cause of extramarital affairs, or vice versa.

“Extramarital affairs emerge because of corruption, among other things. Corruption can occur due to an affair, or an affair can lead to corruption,” he explained.

Therefore, he emphasised that corruption has extraordinarily negative impacts, not only damaging family relationships but also disrupting morals and psychology.

“It destroys the moral order, damages psychology, and some even become stressed or commit suicide,” he stated.
