KPK: 23 of 47 work units paid extortion money to Cilacap Regent

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that 23 of 47 local government work units within Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java submitted extortion payments to Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL).

“During the period of 9-13 March 2026, 23 local government work units in Cilacap Regency have submitted payments from AUL,” stated Asep Guntur Rahayu, KPK Deputy for Prosecution and Execution, at the KPK’s Red-White Building in Jakarta on Saturday evening (14 March).

Asep did not detail what the 23 local government work units comprised. However, he explained that the 47 local government work units in Cilacap consisted of 25 agencies or departments, two regional public hospitals, and 20 community health centres (puskesmas).

Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth hand-catch operation (OTT) of 2026 and the third during Ramadhan. The operation arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, as well as seizing cash in rupiah.

Additionally, the KPK stated that the operation related to alleged receipt of payments in connection with projects within Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java. On 14 March 2026, the KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in the alleged extortion and unlawful receipt cases within Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
