KPK: 23 local government units paid extortion money of Rp3 million to 100 million to Cilacap Regent
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that 23 local government units under the Cilacap Regency administration in Central Java paid extortion money ranging from approximately Rp3 million to Rp100 million to Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
“The deposits received varied. Starting from, in fact, as little as Rp3 million to Rp100 million per local government unit,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at KPK Headquarters in Jakarta on Saturday evening, 14 March.
However, Asep noted that the initial demands were approximately Rp75–100 million per local government unit.
“Possibly because at present these local government units also do not have sufficient budgets,” he said.
For this reason, he suspected that the payment amounts could vary due to a negotiation process, and were arranged based on the considerations of Cilacap Regional Secretariat Deputy II Ferry Adhi Dharma (FER).
“If a local government unit cannot afford the amount that has been determined—Rp75–100 million—then it is required to report to FER for consideration and to have the target reduced based on mutual agreement,” he explained.
Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth operation of the year and the third during Ramadhan.
The operation arrested Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, and seized cash in rupiah denominations.
Additionally, the KPK stated that the operation was related to alleged unlawful receipts in connection with projects under the Cilacap Regency administration in Central Java.
On 14 March 2026, the KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in an alleged extortion and unlawful receipt case involving the Cilacap Regency government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
