Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Commission for the Protection of Children (KPAI) has stated that child cases reported to the commission during the period of January–April 2026 were dominated by family issues and alternative care.

“In the cluster regarding the fulfilment of children’s rights, the most dominant cases originated from the family environment and alternative care, with 209 cases,” said KPA_I Chairman Aris Adi Leksono during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Additionally, education issues remained relatively high with a total of 46 cases, primarily related to children being victims of school policies, discrimination due to unpaid tuition fees, and bullying within educational institutions.

“These conditions indicate that the family and educational environments remain spaces vulnerable to violations of children’s rights,” said Aris Adi Leksono.

KPAI received complaints regarding 426 child cases during the January–April 2026 period.

“Based on KPAI complaint data for the January–April 2026 period, it was recorded that 301 individuals accessed complaint services through various channels such as chatbots, email, letters, telephone, or by visiting the KPAI office directly, totalling 426 cases,” stated Aris Adi Leksono.

Of that total, 403 cases received psychoeducational services, while 23 other cases were managed through field monitoring, case conferences, mediation, and coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders.

The distribution of cases spanned several regions, including DKI Jakarta, West Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Aceh, East Java, East Kalimantan, Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, and North Sumatra.
