The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) continues to monitor the handling of an alleged bullying case involving students at an international school in Serpong, South Tangerang.

“We have conducted supervision at the educational institution in question, and the school authorities have provided an explanation regarding the alleged bullying incident,” said KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The school authorities informed KPAI that they have addressed the case by summoning and bringing together the parents of the alleged perpetrators and the parents of the victim to mediate the matter.

“The school stated that the case has actually been handled internally, involving the summoning of both parents and the perpetrators, as well as a meeting between the parents of the alleged perpetrators and the parents of the victim,” said Aris Adi Leksono.

KPAI subsequently requested that another meeting be held between the parents of the alleged perpetrators and the parents of the victim to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.

“However, it appears that a follow-up meeting is necessary so that the justice desired by the victim can truly be achieved, ensuring accountability from the alleged perpetrators and creating a deterrent effect to prevent any recurrence,” added Aris Adi Leksono.

Previously, a bullying incident occurred involving a junior high school student at an international school in Serpong, South Tangerang, which resulted in injuries to the victim.

In the incident, six senior students allegedly participated in the bullying on the school field, with one of them suspected of being the child of a deputy minister.

However, the incident was not captured on CCTV as there are no cameras installed in the school field area.

Meanwhile, the deputy minister, with the initials DAS, has denied his child’s involvement in the bullying at the school.
